IN-Project

The control tool for whoever follows the project in the field: actual progress, cost control, Earned Value and forecast at completion. It tells you whether you are on track for cost and time, and where a deviation originates, before it becomes a problem.

Purpose

Project control, from the field

IN-Project is built for people who must answer three questions every week: how much have we really progressed, how much has it cost, where will we end up.

Project Manager

Project cost control and forecasting: CPI, SPI, EAC and trends over time, to decide in time whether to intervene, use reserves or revise the baseline.

Site Project Engineer

Record actual progress and actuals straight from the field, by status date, with notes and reasons. The numbers are born where the work happens.

Supervisor and plan coordinator

Approves progress, accepts anomalies with a reason, and governs baselines, change requests and reserve drawdowns.

What it is and what it is not. You create the plan directly in IN-Project (WBS, tasks, resources, dates) or inherit it from MS Project or Excel if you already have one: importing is optional. The core of the software is what happens next: progress, costs, Earned Value, forecasting. It does not have the scheduling automation of a dedicated planning tool, such as automatic critical-path calculation: if you need it, you can keep using MS Project and carry the exported data back into it.
Features

Progress, costs, forecast

The whole control cycle of a project, in an app that works on your data, locally.

Work progress

Record progress and actuals by status date, with notes and supervisor approval workflow.

Cost control and cost governance

Cost control against the baseline, with thresholds and warnings; management reserves with approval of drawdowns.

EVM Monitoring

BAC, PV, EV, AC, CPI, SPI, CV, SV, EAC, VAC, TCPI: as of today, over time by status date and by WBS node.

EAC forecast and Earned Schedule

Estimates at completion for cost and time using the method from Chapter 3 of Impresa Numerica.

Baselines and change requests

Frozen, versioned and archivable baselines; changes go through approved change requests.

Buffers and reserves

Management of buffers and of contingency and management reserves, with traceability of every drawdown.

Plan from scratch or from MS Project

Create the WBS, tasks and dates in the app, or inherit the plan from MS Project or Excel. Export the data to update the original plan.

Gantt and Kanban

View the plan as a Gantt chart or manage daily work on a Kanban board.

Data quality and reports

Automatic anomaly checks, reasoned acceptance and reports exportable to Excel/CSV.

How to use it

Four steps

A simple workflow, designed for site and technical-office work.

Create or import the plan

Build the WBS and tasks in the app, or import the plan from MS Project or Excel. Then set the baseline.

Record progress

At each status date enter progress and actuals; the supervisor approves.

Analyse the indices

Read CPI, SPI, EAC and trends to find where a deviation originates.

Export and share

Generate reports and Excel/CSV. If you use MS Project, carry the data back into the plan.

Try it right away

Example project

A ready-filled project to explore the software without starting from scratch.

E-commerce platform launch

A complete demo project: download the file, install IN-Project and open it with File → Open. Everything you need to see the program at work is already there.

  • Three-phase WBS with 10 tasks and a budget per node
  • Three progress cycles already recorded, to read CPI, SPI and EAC
  • Multiple baselines and approved and rejected change requests
  • Kanban board with sub-tasks and WIP limit
  • Users with different roles, to try approvals and permissions

In development Roadmap

Version 2.0

Version 2 takes IN-Project from the single user to the project team: several people on the same project and new site tools.

Multi-user work

Several workstations on the same project, even on a network folder: local copy and synchronisation with conflict reconciliation, git-style.

Integrated Agile and Kanban

Agile methodology inside the project, and Kanban-only or Agile-only projects alongside the Gantt.

Hybrid management

Gantt, Agile/Kanban and multi-user in the same project, with well-defined scopes.

Daily report and Master report

Daily site reports and an overall management report, generated from project data.

Punch list

Management of completion lists and end-of-works open items.

History and backup

Version history with restore, and automatic project backup.

Planned features, not yet released: content and timing may change. Version 1.0 is available today.

The method

Built on the book Impresa Numerica

The formulas and EVM method implemented by the calculation engine come from Chapter 3 of the manual: every indicator in the app points to its definition, formula and reference in the book.
